Tem-Cats, Belton teams begin away

Temple and Belton hope to get off on the right foot when the high school soccer season opens today.

While the Temple boys host the two-day Wildcat Kick Off Showcase at Woodson Field, the Tem-Cats travel to take on Hewitt Midway at 6 p.m. today.

Both Belton teams will be in tournament action this weekend, with the Tigers in Tomball and the Lady Tigers in Killeen.

The Belton boys open against Spring at 7 p.m. today in a round-robin format. The Tigers will face Tomball at 8 a.m. Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. meeting with Aldine MacArthur.

The Belton girls will square off with Dripping Springs at 2 p.m. in their first-round match at Killeen.

The Tem-Cats, under coach Kevin Korompai, will see their first home action next Friday in the opening round of their own tournament.
