Flame could bring fame to firm; Harvest Technologies work to be featured on American Chopper

BELTON — David K. Leigh considers Harvest Technologies’ role in making a part for a future episode of American Chopper a fun diversion from what the company usually does.

Leigh, Harvest Technologies’ chief executive officer and lead engineer, said this is the first time he’s aware that a part made through the company would be used on a television show. It’s neat to have something that is high profile, he added.

“Most of the stuff that you do in your daily life is not very high profile. You just kind of do your job,” he said, “but every once in a while something like this runs into it and you get a chance to do that. So, it’s exciting. It’s probably increased interest around the shop in the show.”

Word-of-mouth through a customer led to Harvest Technologies’ involvement with the flame, Leigh said in an interview this week. The company made the flame for the torch that will be placed on a Liberty bike for an episode of American Chopper, Leigh said. He said the flame would probably appear on the show this spring unless it appears at another time more specific to the theme.
