KB Toys in Temple to close

KB Toys, the lone toy store in Colonial Mall-Temple, is on a company closing list of 377 stores as part of its bankruptcy restructuring.

Thursday afternoon the Colonial Mall-Temple KB Toys’ location had a sign at its entrance that read “Store Closing …. Everything Must Be Sold!”

Gary Romanski, an assistant manager at the KB Toys store at the mall, said Thursday that he’s unaware when the store would close. He wouldn’t say how many workers the store employed.

Romanski referred other questions to the company’s Web site.

Frank Morton, who works for the Ozer Group that is handling the liquidation sales for KB Toys, said he would expect the stores to close in the next several weeks rather than months because of the values given to the customer as part of the closings.

Morton, who spoke from Needham, Mass., said it’s unfortunate the area market is losing the toy store; however, customers would benefit from the great savings — up to 40 percent off initially.

Trish Lee, marketing and specialty retail director with Colonial Mall-Temple, said Thursday the center hates to see the KB Toys store go.
