PFLUGERVILLE — Laramie Jackson scored a game-high 19 points and Salado allowed only four points in each of the first and third quarters as the Lady Eagles earned a 47-37 win over Lago Vista in the first round of the Class 2A girls high school basketball playoffs on Tuesday night.

Jenny Goode added 11 points for District 25-2A third-place team Salado (20-12), which advanced to play 27-2A champion Hitchcock in the area round on Friday at a time and site yet to be announced.

Lago Vista, the runner-up in 26-2A, ended its season with a 13-12 record.

The Lady Eagles never scored more than the 14 points they posted in the opening period, but their strong defense and the potent interior play of Jackson were too much for Lago Vista to overcome.

“It’s our game to get it inside, and we did a good job of that tonight,” Salado coach Larry Salisbury said. “I hope we can carry it on in the next round.”
