About 250 Coryell County residents celebrated 150 years of history in front of the County Courthouse in Gatesville Saturday.

The Copperas Cove Trail Riders surrounded the crowd in which many people wore cowboy hats and boots. The audience enthusiastically applauded each presenter and speaker.

Texas State Senator of District 22, Kip Averitt, who lived in Copperas Cove as a boy, said when the Texas Legislature made Coryell County on March 4, 1854, they did a good thing.
