ROGERS — Three people died at the scene and two people were taken to Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple after a three-car accident on Hwy. 36, west of Rogers, Sunday afternoon.

DPS officer Don Adams of the Temple office said Thomas Clifford Cox, 71, of Mission Viejo, Calif., was driving a 2004 Chevrolet west out of Rogers when he veered across the road and hit a Dodge Stratus carrying Javonne Calhoun, 21, of Temple and then hit a Dodge pickup carrying Alvin Pierce, 57, and Vickie Anne Pierce, 58, both of Raywood.

Both Cox and his mother, Irma Cox, 95, of Mission Viejo died. Mrs. Pierce also died at the scene. Ms. Calhoun and Pierce were taken to Scott and White in a medivac helicopter. Pierce was still in surgery Sunday night.
