The Department of Veterans Affairs announced on Wednesday the selection of Bruce A. Gordon as the new director of the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, effective Sept. 19.

Gordon previously served as the director of the Northampton VA Medical Center in Leeds, Mass., since 1996, which, along with its community clinics, provides general medicine, intermediate, psychiatric long-term care, nursing home care, hospice, outpatient and post traumatic stress disorder services to Western Massachusetts veterans.

Gordon replaces Dean Billik, who retired on Jan. 3. Dr. Robert W. Ratliff has served as the acting director since Billik
