Community turnout was sparse at a budget forum the Temple school district hosted Thursday evening, at which the district predicted another tight budget for the 2005-06 school year. The numbers are very much up in the air since the Legislature could still overhaul school finance in a special session after failing to do so in the regular session that ended last week, said Karl Kacir, district assistant superintendent of operations and the man in charge of the local school budget process.
