Temple gas prices drop 1 cent in week

The price of regular gasoline averaged about $2.17 per gallon in a survey of 22 stations in Temple on Wednesday, a 1-cent drop from last week and a 5-cent drop in three weeks.

The lowest price in the Temple survey was $2.11 per gallon at the 7-Eleven at Scott Boulevard and South 57th Street. The Diamond Shamrock at Avenue H and South 5th Street had regular for $2.12. Two stations had regular for $2.13, the Exxon at Marlandwood and South 5th Street and the GK Mart at Avenue M and South 29th Street.

The national average of $2.28 per gallon, reported by the American Automobile Association on Wednesday, stayed the same as a week ago. The Energy Information Administration on Monday reported an increase of 0.20 of a cent in the national average.

In Texas, the price dropped to $2.19 on Wednesday, a penny lower than last week, the AAA reported. Two metropolitan areas showed a 1-cent drop, Austin-San Marcos to $2.15 and San Antonio to $2.14.

Gasoline in the Dallas-Fort Worth area was about the same as last week at $2.23 per gallon. Galveston had an average price of $2.19. The average price of regular gasoline in Texarkana was $2.14 per gallon.

Among the states, South Carolina had the lowest average price of $2.12 per gallon, the AAA reported. Oklahoma averaged $2.13 per gallon, the same price as last week. California had the highest average price of $2.59 per gallon. Other state prices were Florida with $2.29, Indiana $2.20, Massachusetts $2.37 and Minnesota $2.17.
