The 2005-06 operating budget shows total expenditures at $80.2 million, which includes $1,123,490 worth of proposed capital to be funded with the undesignated fund balance Saying they were unable to contact government agencies, two public hospitals in New Orleans called the Associated Press Thursday morning and asked for rescue.
One of the hospitals, Charity Hospital, is across the flooded street from Tulane University Medical Center, where helicopters have been evacuating patients for several days. The other hospital, University Hospital, is a few blocks away, the Associated Press reported.
