One of the hospitals, Charity Hospital, is across the flooded street from Tulane University Medical Center, where helicopters have been evacuating patients for several days. The other hospital, University Hospital, is a few blocks away, the Associated Press reported.
A StatAir helicopter from Temple is among about 100 civilian medical helicopters serving Tulane and other hospitals in New Orleans, said David Phillips, director of pre-hospital services at Scott and White Memorial Hospital. He talked to his crew chief Thursday afternoon about the two public hospitals.
