Thunderstorms and high winds blew through the Temple area on Monday bringing much needed rain to the area.
However the winds that accompanied the storm downed some power lines in Temple and took off part of a roof at a business located at Avenue D and 1st Street.
Winds of 20 mph, gusting to 28 mph, were recorded as .22 inches of rain fell in Temple, pushing total October rainfall over 1 inch according to templeweather.com.
Temple has received 17.99 inches of rainfall this year, which is almost 12 inches below average and 2.57 inches less than the same period last year.
KCEN-TV meteorologist Andy Andersen forecasts through Nov. 7 anticipate high temperatures in the low 80s and low temperatures in the 50s with little chance for rain.
The same storm brought more wind than rain to the Killeen and Fort Hood area beginning at 12:55 p.m. Monday, said a report from the National Weather Service.
Black clouds turned the landscape dark for a period of 20-30 minutes as it blew through with winds gusting to 17 mph but settling to 10 mph later in the afternoon.
