Temple area residents are invited to honor the soldiers of the 136th Signal Battalion of the Texas Army National Guard, at a deployment ceremony Saturday, Nov. 5. The battalion, based out of the Temple armory, is being deployed to Iraq, and are expected to ship out within two weeks, said Julie Win, executive director of Families of the Texas Military Foundation.

The Temple College Lady Leopards were hurting before their season opener against San Jacinto on Tuesday night. And the Lady Gators poured plenty of salt on the wound. Ashlee Thomas and Kim Abdullah combined for 45 points to lead San Jacinto to a 78-58 victory over the Lady Leopards at TC Gym.
