Texas National Guard troops returning home

FORT HOOD - During a two-day period ending Monday more than 630 troops with the Texas Army National Guard returned home from a one-year tour in Afghanistan.

Brig. Gen. John Furlow, commander of the 36th Infantry Division and assistant Adjutant General for the State of Texas for the Texas Army National Guard, greeted the troops in the 13th Sustainment Command (E) Gymnasium to welcome them home.

Soldiers with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, the 46th Medical Command and Companies A, B and C of the 3rd Battalion, 141st Infantry Regiment met their families in a raucous reunion of hugging and backslapping.

Furlow said the 3-141st is headquartered at Weslaco in South Texas between McAllen and Harlingen near Matamoras.
