Leadership class presents diverse projects

Leadership Temple, a civic leadership education program organized by the Temple Chamber of Commerce, presented the 2006 class projects at the Temple Civic Theater Tuesday, outlining plans to improve Temple socially, educationally, and economically.

One of the Leadership Temple class projects was a plan for the beautification of the South Interstate 35 Corridor, from H.K. Dodgen Loop to the Leon River. Project participants outlined the importance of the highway corridor in presenting Temple to the world, performed a survey of business owners, and business and community leaders, and made recommendations to beautify business sites in the future.

Mary Duke, Lou Dusek, Scott Motsinger and Holly Vasquez worked on the beautification project, which involved a survey sent to 200 businesses and leaders, and found widespread dissatisfaction with the condition and appearance of I-35 corridor businesses.
