Local gas prices follow national trend

The price of regular gasoline in Temple dropped 9 cents from last week to an average of $2.67 per gallon in a survey of 21 stations Thursday.

It was the second week in a row that prices have dropped significantly across the nation. The national average price of regular dropped 9 cents per gallon, the American Automobile Association reported. In Texas, the average price dropped 10 cents from last week to $2.75 per gallon.

The lowest price in the Temple survey was $2.59 per gallon at the Diamond Shamrock at 1st Street and Avenue H. The next lowest price was $2.63 per gallon at the GK Mart at Avenue M and 29th Street. Three stations sold regular for $2.64 per gallon, the Exxon at Marlandwood Road and 5th Street, the Diamond Shamrock at Adams Avenue and 31st Street and the Exxon at Central Avenue and 25th Street. The 7-Eleven at Adams Avenue and 16th Street had regular for $2.65 per gallon.
