Teen dies in accident

BUCKHOLTS - A 15-year-old Buckholts boy died after a gravel truck rear-ended a 1994 Ford F150 pickup in which he was a passenger about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday west of Buckholts on U.S. 190.

Justice of the Peace O.C. Dunsmoore, Precinct 1, Milam County, pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Officials had not released his name late Wednesday.

The man driving the pickup, not yet identified, was airlifted to Scott and White Memorial Hospital in Temple with unknown injuries. The driver of the Freightliner gravel truck was apparently unhurt, said Trooper David Yarbrough of the Texas Department of Public Safety in a preliminary report at the scene of the accident.

Both vehicles were westbound on U.S. 190, Yarbrough said. The driver of the F150 pickup was trying to make a left turn onto County Road 112, when the gravel truck overtook it, he reported. The accident is still being investigated, he said.
