Gas prices climb 2 cents in Temple

The price of regular gasoline in Temple rose 2 cents from last week to an average of $2.79 per gallon, according to a survey of 21 stations Wednesday.

Two stations had regular at $2.74 per gallon - the CEFCO at Central Avenue near 25th Street and the Diamond Shamrock at Adams Avenue and 31st Street. The GK Mart at Avenue M near 29th Street had regular for $2.75 per gallon.

In Texas, the price of regular gasoline rose 2 cents from last week to an average price of $2.86 per gallon, the American Automobile Association reported. Nationwide, the average price of regular rose 3 cents to $2.96 per gallon.

Of 11 Texas metropolitan areas reported on by the AAA, Corpus Christi had the lowest average price for regular at $2.71 per gallon. Galveston-Texas City and Houston had the high average at $2.93 per gallon. Austin-San Marcos sold regular for an average of $2.79 per gallon, the AAA reported. San Antonio had regular for an average price of $2.75 per gallon, and the average in Dallas was $2.91.

Of the surrounding states, Arkansas had the lowest average price at $2.81 per gallon, the AAA reported. Louisiana had regular for an average price of $2.82, Oklahoma for $2.83 and New Mexico for $3.
