Community organizations are working to provide box fans and possibly window units for people who are facing the July heat without air conditioning.

Firefighters are partnering with the Bell County HELP Center to distribute box fans, Temple Fire and Rescue spokesman Thomas Pechal said.

Although a far cry from central air conditioning, a box fan does move some air and provide some relief, he said.
