Two stations dropped to $1.99 per gallon, the BP off Interstate 35 near Nugent Avenue and the Pay-Less at Avenue R and 1st Street. The Exxon at Avenue U and 1st Street sold regular for $2.01 per gallon. Two stations had regular for $2.03 per gallon, the GK Mart at Avenue M and 29th Street and the Valero at Avenue H and 1st Street.
The last time regular was recorded as lower than $2 per gallon in Temple was on Dec. 7, 2005, when the Diamond Shamrock at Airport Road and Van Dyke Drive had regular for $1.98 per gallon. Regular averaged $2.07 per gallon in a Temple survey that day.
After 11 weeks of dropping prices, the average price of regular in the nation rose a penny from last week. The national average was $2.20 per gallon, the American Automobile Association reported. The state average also rose a penny, to $2.08 per gallon.
The average in Corpus Christi dropped to $1.99 per gallon, the AAA reported. Other low prices among Texas metropolitan areas included $2.02 per gallon in Houston and Galveston-Texas City and $2.05 per gallon in Beaumont-Port Arthur.
Fort Worth-Arlington sold regular for an average of $2.06 and Dallas sold regular for $2.07. San Antonio had regular for an average of $2.09 per gallon and Austin-San Marcos had regular for $2.16.
Among surrounding states, Oklahoma had the low average of $2.08 per gallon, the AAA reported. Arkansas sold regular for an average of $2.09 per gallon, followed by Louisiana at $2.11 and New Mexico at $2.25.
