Temple, Belton will discuss boundaries

BELTON - A meeting earlier this week between Temple and Belton city officials may prove to be a catalyst that could change the way both cities will look in the future, but then again, things may just stay the same.

City managers, mayors and mayor pro-tems of both cities discussed negotiating extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ) boundaries on Tuesday. Belton is wrapping up an annexation study that has brought to the forefront ETJ boundary issues between the two cities.

The issues are not new to either side, as there have been on-and-off ETJ boundary discussions between the cities for more than four years. What has changed, according to both mayors, is the tone of the meetings.
