Burrows to state: Stop unfunded mandates

BELTON - Bell County Judge Jon Burrows urged the state to end unfunded mandates in a recently delivered message to the Task Force on Appraisal Reform.

He then passed along that message to organizations in Bell County warning of possible funding cuts if the Legislature enacts certain proposals.

On Jan. 9, state legislators will convene in Austin to debate various issues. One of the hottest debates could center upon unfunded mandates, appraisal caps, revenue caps and what are expected to be conflicting reports. Appraisal caps would limit the increase in an appraised value of a property. Revenue caps would limit to a certain percentage that the government
