Services for Alvin H. Skaggs, 83, of Temple will be held in private in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Kill-een.
The body will be cremated.
He died Thursday, Dec. 28, in a local nursing home.
He was born in Ravia, Okla., to Jesse Frank Skaggs and Lola Inez (Rose) Skaggs. He was a veteran of World War II, where he received the EAME Theater Ribbon, the Silver Service Star, WWII Victory Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He worked as a self-employed oil producer in the Petrolia area and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Petrolia.
Survivors are his wife, Ruby Faye (Vice) Skaggs of Temple; a son, Charles Skaggs of Belton; a brother, Darryl Skaggs of Ardmore, Okla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
Sheffield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
