More cold weatehr expected in Temple area

Much of Bell County remains coated in ice and frost after two consecutive days of below-freezing temperatures and precipitation.

A winter storm warning was issued for Bell County and remains in effect until 6 p.m. today.

Re-freezing and more precipitation Monday night and Tuesday morning kept conditions slippery and dangerous, and KCEN-TV Chief Meteorologist Andy Anderson predicts things will stay cold and rainy until this evening. With a 70 percent chance of sleet and snow Tuesday night, Central Texas could wake up to anywhere from a half-inch to an inch of snow. After a brief reprieve on Thursday, the freezing cold and ice is expected to return Saturday.

The search continued Tuesday afternoon for a Cameron woman whose submerged pickup was found Monday in a swollen slough in the Marak community.

Milam County Sheriff Charlie West said the water level dropped dramatically Tuesday morning, allowing lawmen to continue their search for Sharon Rene Thompson, 36. The search continued until dark and is expected to resume today.
