Services for Elmo Wilhelm Emanuel Winkler, 95, of Temple will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove with the Rev. John Heckmann officiating.

Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in The Grove.

Mr. Winkler died Monday, Jan. 29, in a local nursing home.

He was born in The Grove to Heinrich Winkler and Augusta (Mueller) Winkler. He was raised and educated in The Grove where he attended school in St. Paul Parochial School. He married Mamie Schkada on Nov. 8, 1936, in St. Paul Church, where he started the Sunday school program and served as the Sunday school superintendent for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Survivors are three sons, Elmo Winkler Jr. and Max Winkler, both of The Grove, and Glenn Winkler of Pinehurst; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund, 220 The Grove Road, Gatesville 76528.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today in Sheffield Funeral Home in Temple.
