BELTON - Bell County Commissioners Court took a step toward actual construction of the new jail annex Monday, but deterred from the final step of ordering it to begin.

During the Monday morning meeting, commissioners approved a guaranteed maximum price of $37,975,397 as offered by Skanska USA Building, which is the construction manager for the estimated 177,000-square-foot project. However, commissioners conceded to a request by Skanska Project Marc Hibner to wait on the notice to proceed with construction.
