Moffat Fire Station suffers damage

An estimated $7,000 in damage was caused when a hit-and-run vehicle slammed into the side of the Moffat Fire Station, 5660 Lakeaire Blvd., between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday, reported Fire Chief Hal Pagel.

Evidence found at the scene indicated the vehicle was probably dark blue and suffered a fair amount of damage, he said.

The Moffat Volunteer Fire Department will offer a reward for information leading to the person who is responsible.

The vehicle penetrated about a foot into the metal building and struck one of the main roof supports.

It also struck a refrigerator and smashed it into the passenger side door of a 2003 Chevrolet grass-fire truck.
