Temple slaying suspects in jail; pair surrenders; bonds set at $50,000 each

BELTON - The two people who saw Ray Lee Taplin die and eventually were charged with his shooting death turned themselves in without incident within seven hours of each other, according to Temple Police spokesman Brad Hunt.

Taplin, 42, died from a shotgun blast to the chest on March 16 while inside the home where his former girlfriend, Jasmine Randolph Alexander, lived. Ms. Alexander, 24, turned herself in at 6 p.m. Wednesday after a Bell County grand jury indicted her on a charge of murder earlier in the day, Hunt said.
