Fortunately for the Lady Eagles, Hayley Friudenberg (17-3) pitched a no-hitter and her third shutout in three postseason games as they rolled to a 7-0 win over Maypearl.
Aubrey or Tom Bean awaits the Lady Eagles (23-3) in the regional semifinals.
“Hayley pitched really well tonight,” B-E coach Leslie Ortiz said. “She was throwing hard and then got strikeouts on her changeup.”
The Lady Eagles benefited from eight Maypearl errors.
“We hit the ball hard and caused a lot of those errors,” Ortiz said. “It still doesn’t make them hits, though, as much as I wish it would."
