James ‘Mike’ Ward

COPPERAS COVE — Services with full military honors for James Michael “Mike” Ward, 56, of Copperas Cove will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

He died Thursday, May 24, at a Copperas Cove nursing home.

Mr. Ward was born in Topeka, Kan., to James Ward and Dorothy Benedict Ward. He served in the U.S. Army 1968-1988. His military service awards include the Air Medal with “V” device, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal with one silver loop, National Service Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Number 2), Republic of Vietnan Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with palm, Marksman Badge (rifle) and Senior Aircraft Crewman Badge.

Survivors include one son, James Jason Ward of The Colony; one daughter, Krista Carroll of Copperas Cove; two sisters, Jacquie Braas of Copperas Cove and Connie Overstreet of Caldwell, Idaho; and five grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, P.O. Box 270261, Flower Mound, Texas 75027-0261.

Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove is in charge of arrangements.
