Joseph Richard Sosa, 59, of Temple died Wednesday, June 6, at a local hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with the Rev. Roy Parker officiating.
Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Sosa was born in Washington, D.C., to Manual and Mary Sosa. He joined the Army on Nov. 16, 1964 and served during the Vietnam war. His military awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Sharpshooter (Rifle); Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Korea. He received an honorable discharge as a sergeant E-5 on Oct. 10, 1975.
Survivors are three sons, Joseph Sosa Jr., Steve Ross and Joseph Ross, both of Temple; three daughters, Crystal Dawn Fosky and Jamie Richelle Sosa McCain, both of Georgia, and Bobbi Jo Sosa of Temple; a brother; six sisters; and 15 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
