Services for Edward R. Klisiewicz, 89, (U.S. Marine Corps retired) of Temple, formerly of Monson, Mass., will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple with the Rev. Ranjan Cletus officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mr. Klisiewicz died Sunday, July 1, in a Temple hospital.

He was born in Webster, Mass., to John and Agnes Markowska Klisiewicz and was raised in Monson. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1939 as a private at Springfield, Mass. During the Korean War in 1952 he was promoted to lieutenant. He was awarded numerous wartime medals during World War II with service in the South Pacific Ocean area and later during the Korean War. He was on K-6 Airfield in Korea when the Korean Armistice was signed on Tuesday, July 28, 1953. After 20 years of active Marine Corps service he returned to Monson, Mass., where he served in the Fleet Marine Corps Reserves for 10 years. He fully retired from the Marine Corps with more than 30 years of service. He married Fredda (Trudy) Grantham on May 20, 1944, at Parris Island, S.C. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Disabled American Veterans, retired officers association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and American Legion Post No. 133 in Temple.

Survivors are his wife, of Temple; two sons, Jan Edward Klisiewicz of Hampden, Maine, and Steven Alan Klisiewicz of Wilbarham, Mass.; three sisters, Jennie Kscascz of Ware, Mass., Jeanette Strycharz of Monson, Mass., and Barbara LeDuc of Warwick, N.Y.; three brothers, John Klisiewicz, Frank Klisiewicz, and Raymond Klisiewicz, all of Monson; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
