Services for Charles Price Spivey, 87, of Moffat will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Prairie Hill Cemetery near Mexia.
A memorial service will follow at Prairie Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Sain and Brett Spivey officiating.
Mr. Spivey died Monday, July 2, at his residence.
He was born in Limestone County to C.C. and Mae Spivey. He attended Kilgore Junior College and then served in the C.C. Camp. Later he joined the Texas National Guard and served in World War II. He was in the 143rd Infantry, and saw action in North Africa and Italy and was awarded the Silver Star for bravery. On Sept. 26, 1940, he married Florence Graves. In 1953, Charles and Florence started the Charles Spivey Insurance Agency, and in 1956, he added the Charles Spivey Real Estate Agency. In 1980, they retired to Lake Belton. He was a longtime member of Civitan Interna-tional, where he served as president of the Waco chapter and Texas governor.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 17, 1997. On March 19, 2000, he married Sarah Harle.
Survivors are his wife, Sarah Spivey; one son, Charles Ed Spivey; two sisters, Jewel Harden and Sally Sain; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
