A memorial service for Caroline M. Bierwirth, 82, of Temple will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with Dr. Thomas Allen officiating.
A private burial will be held in Colorado.
Mrs. Bierwirth died Tuesday, July 3, at a Temple hospital.
She was born in Blackhawk, Colo., to Matthew and Caroline Ress Casagranda. She was a registered nurse more than 50 years. She was reared and educated in Blackhawk and received her nursing certification from St. Anthony’s Hospital School of Nursing in Denver. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. She married Chris Bierwirth on April 11, 1966, in Albuquerque, N.M. She had lived in Temple the last 40 years. She was a member of the board of directors of the Temple Area Santa Fe Credit Union. She was also a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple where she was an elder.
Survivors include her husband, of Temple; two sons, Brad Svalberg of Connecticut and Matthew Bierwirth of Waco; two daughters, Sandy Svalberg of Houston and Margo Bierwirth-Wyatt of Temple; one sister, Milda Hayden of Wyoming; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian Church, 2401 S. 57th St., Temple 76504.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
