Con Neal Boland

Services for Con Neal Boland, 81, of Temple, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sheffield Funeral Home with Dick Goodwin and Michael Williams officiating.

Private burial will be at a later time at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

Mr. Boland died Monday, July 23, in a Temple hospital.

He was born in Girard to Lewis Arthur Boland and Hattie May (Gilmore) Boland. He was raised and educated in Girard and graduated from Girard High School in 1944. He joined the U.S. Navy on Sept. 1, 1944.

He served on the USS Clinton and reached the rank of seaman first class. He married Bernice Johnson on March 14, 1952, in Kankakee, Ill.

He moved to Bell County in 1959 where he worked as an Oldsmobile/Cadillac service technician and then as the service manager for Kuykendall Motors for many years.

He also owned and operated Boland’s Motorcycle Shop of Temple. After selling his motorcycle business, he became a Volvo service technician for Garlyn Shelton. He retired in 2002.

He was a member of Northside Church of Christ for more than 45 years.

Mr. Boland was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter, Peggy Zak.

Survivors are one son, William Boland; three daughters, Kathy Cooper, Cindy Tittsworth and Connie Utterback, all of Temple; one brother, Fred Warren Boland of Bell Canyon, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cherokee Children’s Home care of Northside Church of Christ, 3401 N. 3rd St., Temple 76501 or Ronald McDonald House, 2415 S. 47th, Temple 76504.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
