His Aug. 12 appearance will be the third at TBC for Rigsby, who averages 200 speaking engagements a year. He will be outlining his plan to help people strive to meet their potential, his spokeswoman Cynthia Forman-Haynes said.
“He has a strong affection for that church and (the Rev. Gary DeSalvo) the pastor of the church,” Ms. Forman-Haynes said.
Rigsby’s message will be that it’s important to make an impact in one’s life and in the lives of others, as opposed to just making a good impression, she said. He has stressed that message in his counseling to Aggie football players, a role he has played for the last 14 years, she said.
“He’s a great speaker,” said Martha Gunn, assistant to DeSalvo. “We’ve enjoyed him so much that we’ve had him back for three years.”
The Rigsby engagement is part an overall back-to-school theme for the church’s congregation, Ms. Gunn said. The next week TBC plans to host the football team from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
“It just really kicks off our fall school year,” Ms. Gunn said.
Rigsby will lead Sunday’s 9:30 and 11 a.m. services at 3205 Oakview Drive in Temple.
