The annual City Federation of Women’s Clubs and City Federation fashion show and champagne brunch is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Cultural Arts Center, 3011 N. 3rd Street in Temple.

“Everything’s Coming Up Roses” will feature food prepared by members of the club and fashions presented by Sherri’s The Rosebud with commentary by Betty Thrasher.

Tickets for the event are $40 each, and can be purchased at 219 King Circle in Temple. Call (254) 778-1270 for information.

“We have beautiful clothes this year,” Mrs. Thrasher said. “The brunch is always divine and the Black-tie Guys (local business and professional men dressed in tuxedos) are the icing on the cake.”

This year, the event will host guest designer Craig Miller, a young designer from Dallas and Denver.

“He is a bright new star in the world of fashion,” Mrs. Thrasher said. “And, we are proud to say that a few years ago, The RoseBud was his first customer.”

This year’s fashions models are Ann Barkemeyer, Dr.Vivian Baker, Nancy Birdwell, Linda Bray, Dr. Cheryl Cipriani, Hide Cort, Martha Daniel, Carol Emerson, Fran Farrow, Dr. Pat Forest, Sharon Gillaspie, Catherine Landry, Carol Mills, Christi Ming, Joanna Moore, Katherine Myers, Cindy Newton, Chonie Pischinger, Dr. Barbara Weis-Probe, Linda Ringler, Kay Roberts, Kathy Cook, Natalie Farber, Pat Currie, Colleen Brady, Carla Wright, Judge Yolanda Cortes Mares, Tegan Needham, Stephanie Turnham, Dr. Catherine McNeal, Amanda Cernosek, MaryAnn Stringfellow, Seleese Thompson, Sharon Tarver, Melissa Thrasher, Sharla Winkler, Janice Wilson, Paula Wilson, Dr. Judith Lusk, Jessica Walker, Katie Dupree and Elizabeth Parker.

Back-Stage Divas are Lauralyn Carlisle, Cindy Cashion and Dottie Oliver. Hairstyles will be provided by Christi Ming’s Fountain of Beauty and make-up will be provided by Estee Lauder at Dillard’s in Temple Mall with Karen Blankenship.

While the event’s main purpose is to raise funds for scholarships for Bell County students, those attending will also get an opportunity to taste great food made by members of the City Federation and will enjoy superb service from suavely-dressed businessmen, known as the Black Tie Guys.

The menu will include Best Broccoli Salad, Copper Pennies (carrots), Tropicana Fruit Salad, Pumpkin Coconut Muffins and Days of Wine and Roses Cake.

This year a drawing will be held for a pendant provided by Charlie Wharton and The RoseBud.

The show benefits area students with $1,500 scholarships. Recipients must be Bell County residents, have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher, write a personal letter, submit three letters of recommendation, and commit to at least 12 semester credit hours at a Texas college or university.

A highlight of the day will be the auction of holiday - all holidays, not just Christmas - wreaths and table centerpieces created by area artists.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit area community groups. Last year, the group awarded $6,750 to groups including Alzheimer’s Community Respite (Thursday Club), Children’s Advocacy Center of Central, Families in Crisis for the Temple Satellite Shelter, the Railroad and Heritage Museum, ACT (Aware Central Texas), Temple Public Library, Bell County Museum, Helping Hands Ministry of Belton, Inc., and J.A.I.L. Ministry, Inc.
