Man’s body discovered in car

GATESVILLE - A body was found inside an abandoned car on Greenbriar Road in Coryell County shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday.

A Coryell County Sheriff’s Office deputy made the discovery of the dead man after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle, according to a Coryell County Sheriff’s Department press release.

The deceased was identified as James M. Grant, 44.

Sheriff’s office investigators along with Texas Rangers and Texas Department of Public Safety crime lab team were called to the scene to investigate what appeared to be a homicide. From the investigation of the crime scene it was discovered that the deceased was carried to the scene. It appears that the primary crime scene is Grant’s residence on Rocky Road just east of Gatesville, according to the release.

Justice of the Peace Larry McDonald pronounced Grant dead and ordered the body sent to Dallas for autopsy.

The Coryell County Sheriff’s Office along with the Texas Rangers are in the process of conducting the investigation into Grant’s death, according to the release.
