A 23-year-old soldier from Harker Heights has died after he was wounded in Iraq, according the Defense Department.

Army Specialist Aaron J. Walker died Tuesday in Baghdad after his unit was attacked with small arms fire during combat, a Pentagon statement said.

He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, 1st Armored Division of the U.S. Army, based in Vilseck, Germany.
