While Yoe was hammering away with running back James Wells in the first half, the Leopards relied on the big play.
Wells scored on runs of 7 and 25 yards in the first quarter. But Lorena built a 21-14 halftime lead on a 49-yard run by Evan Ward, a 1-yard dive by Jon Bennett and a 68-yard pass from running back Bennett to Taylor Robinson.
The Leopards threatened in the waning seconds of the first half, but the Yoe defense shut Lorena down at the 1.
Yoe tied the game in the third quarter on an 18-yard strike from Steven Townsend to Wells, then the defense came up with another goal-line stand to stymie the Leopards.
The Yoemen took the lead early in the fourth when Devin Hemphill hauled in a 15-yard pass from Townsend and Jason Sigler added the point after.
Less than a minute later, Bennett bounded to paydirt from 13 yards out to get within a point, but the pass for two fell incomplete.
Sigler sacked Lorena quarterback Casey Brewton in the end zone late in the game to seal Cameron’s victory.
Wells led all rushers with 128 yards on 20 carries. Townsend was red-hot, connecting on 12 of 15 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns.
Yoe improved to 3-2 on the season while Lorena dropped to 1-4.
