Brimer ran for three first–half touchdowns, then connected with Parish on an 81–yard scoring pass in the third quarter. Parish also scored on a 34–yard reverse.
Florence improved its season record to 3–1 while the Cougars fell to 1–3.
Brimer’s first touchdown came on a 1–yard quarterback sneak midway through the first quarter. It came one play after a blocked punt gave the Buffaloes possession at the Rosebud–Lott 1.
The Cougars were forced to punt again on their next possession, and Parish gave Florence good field position at the Rosebud–Lott 42 with a 13–yard return.
Eight plays later Brimer scored on a 6–yard run with 2:05 remaining in the opening period. Pedro Jaime’s PAT kick gave the Buffaloes a 14–0 advantage.
Jaime scored 11 points in the game: five PATs and two field goals.
Rosebud–Lott scored on its next possession when DeAndre Thompson hooked up with Collin Rabroker on a 10–yard touchdown pass off a reverse. Robert Maddigan booted the PAT, making the score 14–7 with 10 seconds left in the first period.
The scoring drive covered 72 yards in seven plays, including a 42–yard pass from Cap Suddeth to Darrell Whitfield.
On Florence’s next drive Brimer connected with Thomas Landis for a 46–yard pass, then broke loose for a 17–yard touchdown run with 10:43 left until halftime.
The Cougars scored again with 1:46 remaining in the half when Suddeth and Collin Wolf hooked up on a 30–yard pass play to cap an eight–play, 79–yard drive.
On the touchdown, Parish had good coverage and appeared to be in position to intercept the pass. But Wolf outjumped him and came down with the ball, then fell into the end zone.
The Buffaloes increased their lead to 28–14 on their first possession of the second half. Parish’s scoring run capped a 61–yard, five–play drive sparked by passes of 10 and 14 yards from Brimer to Bilial Sledd.
Rosebud–Lott launched a lengthy drive on its next possession, moving from its own 29 to the Florence 1 in six plays, including Suddeth completions of 18 yards to Ben Guthrie, 16 yards to Rabroker and 36 yards to Whitfield.
But the Cougars were unable to finish the drive, failing to gain any yardage on four plays, including three sneak attempts by Suddeth.
Florence took possession at its own 1 and scored five plays later when Brimer connected with Parish near midfield and the senior receiver outfought one defender for the ball, then outran two more to the end zone to complete an 81–yard scoring play with 2:29 left in the third quarter.
Rosebud–Lott answered just 25 seconds later when Suddeth hit Guthrie with an 8–yard touchdown pass. The score was set up by Thompson’s 82–yard kickoff return.
Jaime closed out the scoring with a 37–yard field goal with 7:49 left in the game - four plays after the Buffaloes recovered a fumble at the Rosebud–Lott 21 - and a 29–yard field goal with 1:56 remaining.
Next week the Cougars travel to Little River–Academy to play the Academy Bumblebees.
