Services for Allen V. Sheppard, 90, of Temple, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with the Rev. James LeFan officiating.

Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Sheppard died Saturday, Jan. 13, in a Temple hospital.

He was born in the Willow Point Community in Wise County to Orzo and Daisy Allen Sheppard. He attended Jacksboro High School and graduated from Texas A&M in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. On Sept. 12, 1942, he married Waltina Boyd in Wichita Falls. He worked as a district conservationist field representative for the USDA for 34 years and for the State of Texas for 10 years before he retired in 1983.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and served nine years as an elder of Colorado City Church of Christ. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Volunteer Fire Department and Kiwanis Club for eight years. He also served as president of the school board of trustees in Robert Lee.

Survivors are his wife of Temple; two daughters, Martha Davis of Troy and Melinda Sheppard Yeager of Temple; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Western Hills Church of Christ, 210 N. General Bruce Drive, Temple 76504.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
