Mildred Smith, 86, of Temple died Tuesday, Jan. 2, in a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Humphrey officiating.
Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Forest Park East in Houston.
Mrs. Smith was born in Blevins to James McCoy and Minnie Miller McCoy. She received her registered nursing degree from Scott and White School of Nursing.
She served as an Army nurse during World War II. She married Franklin L. Smith on Jan. 1, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1972. She moved to Temple from Houston in 1976 and worked at Santa Fe Hospital. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors are a son, James Smith of Houston; a daughter, Nita Rider of Temple; three sisters, Bonnie Osburn and Lucille Krueger, both of Temple, and Hazel Dooley of San Angelo; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
