Longtime mission worker Joy Fenner is in line to be named head of the country´s largest Baptist state convention when it conducts its annual meeting in late October. Less than 1 percent of the convention´s pastors are female.

YANGON, Myanmar (AP) - A U.N. envoy was unable to meet with Myanmar´s top two junta leaders in his effort to persuade them to ease a violent crackdown on anti-government protesters, but was allowed a highly orchestrated session Sunday with detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi. The military government, meanwhile, flooded the main city of Yangon with troops, swelling their numbers to about 20,000 by Sunday and ensuring that almost all demonstrators would remain off the streets, a diplomat said.

The long-gone community of McMillan was located on what is now County Line Road, not far from the old communities of Mud Springs, which was later renamed Joe Lee. The entire area is rife with springs and has been for a long time. CAMERON -- Officials believe a body pulled from the Little River near Cameron today is that of James Mollica, a Cameron resident who went missing nearly three months ago. A 62-ton wrecker was used to pull a black truck, registered to Mollica, from the river. A body with Mollica's wallet was found in the cab of the truck, according to officials on the scene.

HOUSTON - Craig Biggio got one more hit, one more run and a few more standing ovations before calling it a career on Sunday. The retiring Biggio doubled in his first at-bat and scored in the first inning of his final game as the Houston Astros beat the Atlanta Braves 3-0 before a record crowd at Minute Maid Park.
