AREA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Bracken squeaks past CTCS. 48-44

In a rarity for six-man football, it was the kicking game that made all the difference as the Central Texas Christian Lions fell 48-44 to the Bulverde Bracken Christian Warriors on Friday night.

The TAPPS District 4-Six-Man opener at Frazee Field was eventually decided with a 34-yard field goal by Tye Sanders, providing the four-point difference. The Lions also missed three extra-point kicks, which count two points each in the six-man game.

After CTCS (3-3) fell behind with 2:01 left in the game, the Lions drove inside the Bracken 10-yard line, dropping a potential game-winning pass in the end zone.

In a game that saw scoring spurts from both squads, CTCS led for most of the first half before Marty Cruz hit touchdown passes of 28 yards to R.J. Braune and 20 yards to Tye Sanders.

Caleb Paschall returned a kickoff 73 yards with 1:08 left in the first half to give the Lions a lead that they would hold until the final score of the game. Paschall scored another TD on a 36-yard run.

Tyler Beechem rushed for two touchdowns for CTCS, and Taylor Truitt connected on TD passes with Isaac Cooper and Jad Halabi.
