COPPERAS COVE — Services for retired Command Sgt. Maj. Robert L. Wedgewood, 53, of Copperas Cove will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.
Burial with full military honors will be in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Wedgewood died Friday, Oct. 12, at his home.
He was born in Oakland, Neb., to Lawrence and LaVerne Wedgewood. He was retired military. His service included overseas tours in Germany, Korea and Southwest Asia. He also had stateside tours at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Fort Campbell, Ky., Fort Carson, Colo., Omaha, Neb., and Fort Hood, where he retired after 24 years in the military. His service awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (first award), Meritorious Service Medal (third award), Army Commendation Medal (second award), Army Achievement Medal (second award), Good Conduct Medal (seventh award), National Defense Service Medal (second award), Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (fourth award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (third award), Kuwait Liberation Medal (K) and Kuwait Liberation Medal (SA). After retiring from the military, He worked in civil service supporting military operations. He graduated from high school in Tekamah, Neb. Following his military service, he received a bachelor’s degree.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Wedgewood of Copperas Cove; one son, Jeff Wedgewood of Copperas Cove; one daughter, Pepper Wedgewood of Copperas Cove; and one brother, Shane Wedgewood of Bellevue, Neb.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
