Martha Machalek, 87, of Temple died Thursday, Oct. 18, at a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Seaton Brethren Church with the Rev. Joe Emmerson officiating.
Burial will be in Seaton Cemetery.
Mrs. Machalek was born in Seaton to Raymond and Matilda Sodek. She attended school in the Lost Prairie Community. She married Antone Machalek on April 20, 1939. They operated a grocery store in Ratibor. Later, they moved to Temple where she worked for Cuba and Stefka Grocery Store as a cashier. She retired from Vera Lee clothing store where she worked in the children’s department. She was a member of Seaton Brethren Church, a longtime member of the Church Christian Sisters Society and the Mutual Aid Society. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Rae Hoelscher.
Survivors include her husband of Temple; two sons, Bill Machalek of Temple and Russell Wayne Machalek of Tomball; one brother, Clarence Sodek; two sisters, Mary Bartek and Dorothy Novasad; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Seaton Brethren Church Building Fund, in care of Lanette Wigginton, 3202 El Capitan Drive, Temple 76502.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
