The Lady Eagles (23-11) advanced to face Crawford in an area-round match at 7 p.m. Thursday at Temple’s Wildcat Gym.
“We started off slow with some playoff jitters,” Salado coach Bree Holz said. “But once we settled down, we played like we’re capable of playing.”
Jenna Sebek had 12 kills and Danielle Hazzard added 11 for the Lady Eagles. Kaitlyn Ruth registered 25 assists and Lindsey Coffey posted nine digs.
LAMPASAS - Gatesville combined the attacking prowess of Claire Stephens with stellar defense to knock off Liberty Hill 25-17, 25-17, 25-27, 25-10 in a Class 3A bi-district match Tuesday night.
Stephens had 19 kills and four blocks for the No. 13-ranked Lady Hornets (27-10), who advanced to face No. 7 Carthage in an area-round match at 7 p.m. Thursday at Fairfield High School.
“We played fundamentally well, especially in the first two games,” Gatesville coach Ricky Phillips said. “I also thought our back-row defense was outstanding, and we served well.
“It’s a good win for us going into the Carthage match. We beat them last year, and we hope can put together the same kind of performance this time.”
Abby Cook had nine digs to anchor the Lady Hornets’ defensive effort. Kelsey Phillips recorded 28 assists, and Rachel Thompson and Carissa Hann added five kills apiece.
