KILLEEN — Services for James Arlin Rye, 78, of Killeen will be 11 a.m. Saturday in West Bowie County Cemetery in DeKalb with full military honors.
He died Friday, Nov. 2, at his home.
He was born in Aberdeen, Miss. to James Rupert Rye and Maxie Poole Rye. He married Doda Dean on Nov. 1, 1952, in Texarkana, Ark., while serving in the U.S. Army. He served as the shop superintendent for the city of Birmingham, Ala. for more than 30 years. He lived in Trussville, Ala. prior to moving to Killeen. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Pat Rye Spinard of Garrett Park, Md., Pam Lasota of Englewood, Fla., Laurie Williamson McElhiney of Harker Heights; two sisters, Geneva Rye Jones of Lawrenceville, Ga., Sarah Rye Hensley of Bessemer, Ala.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Killeen.
