It seemed that Pflugerville (8-3) had seized the winning score on Greg Nwoko’s 4-yard touchdown run with 48 seconds remaining.
But on Temple’s next offensive play Chase Moore connected with fellow senior Derek Marshall for a 66-yard TD pass that sent the game to overtime - and sent the thousands of Wildcat fans on Leo Buckley Stadium’s home side into a frenzy.
Chris Winkler’s 38-yard field goal on Temple’s first OT possession produced a 31-28 lead, but on the Panthers’ second play Wilson darted through the defense for his third TD run to finish the back-and-forth duel.
Temple’s Lache Seastrunk ran for 147 yards and an 80-yard touchdown, Adrian Reaves-Brown had 110 yards and a 40-yard score, and Moore also threw a 64-yard TD pass to Tevin Reese.
Coach Bryce Monsen’s District 13-5A-champion Wildcats, who won their first district title since 1999 and posted their first perfect league record in 22 years, finished their season 7-4.
